Lone Tree Spring Cattle Drive
June 5-8,2008
$645 (+ 3% BLM fee)

Help ranchers Tom Peek and Ken Zimmerman drive their cattle from Benton Hot Springs to the summer pasture near River Springs. Participate in all facets of driving, gathering and working cattle. As time permits, we will vaccinate, doctor and brand calves the last day.

Since the 1980's we have conducted cattle drives in the Benton area with the Harris Ranch and the Lone Tree Cattle Drive. We offer trips where we actually help the rancher move their stock...it is the real thing! A highlight of the trip is learning cattle driving and how to work range cattle. Tom Peek shares a lifetime of experience and his knowledge of the land, cowboys and history of training horses.

An ideal trip for the experienced or novice rider. For beginners, well put you on a gentle horse and explain how to work cattle. Seasoned riders and previous guests will be given more demanding tasks and we have the opportunity for lots of saddle time.

In camp, we practice roping while enjoying the hot springs at Benton. We will have one central camp with plenty of good food, campfire stories and music.

Itinerary: Thursday, June 5, 2008 - Check in time after 3 p.m. at the Old House at Benton Hot Springs. We will have dinner at 6:30 pm and plenty of time to explore the historic buildings and mining town of Benton.

Friday, June 6, 2008 - Breakfast at dawn, then mount your horse to gather the pairs at Benton and start the push over the Benton Range. We drive the cattle up to Dutch Peak. Vans will bring you back to Benton Hot Springs for the night.

Saturday, June 7, 2008 - We drive the cattle north past Black Lake through the Adobe Valley to the Windmill Corrals near River Springs. After dinner, we'll celebrate with old Mono style party.

Sunday, June 8, 2008 - The cattle need to spread out over Allotment Number Six in the eastend of Adobe. We'll brand a few calves before we head out for the day's ride. There will time to go out and track and observe wild mustangs. We'll take guests back to their cars about 3 p.M.
